    Not for non-techies

I bought this for my wife for her birthday. She is older and is not a techie, but wanted something to measure her steps, sleep, heart, etc. We charged it to 100% and she wore it from about 5 PM until 6 AM the next morning. She woke up, and the watch was at 0%. After we recharged it she started trying to use it and we can tell you it’s not for seniors. Hard to make adjustments on the watch, especially if you’re not familiar with fitness watches. And why can’t adjustments be made from the app instead of the screen on the watch? The watch is good, just not for seniors.

    i love it!!!

The watch looks like new, so clean no scratches, it has a plastic cover on the screen, the battery last for couple days, its worth more than what i pay for it. I recommend this seller they are true to their description.

    I needed this

I have avoided a smart watch for years and finally decided to give up the fight and get one. I hate the look of the square Apple watches and mostly think they are over-priced and faddish. I wanted something that would give me the look of a traditional watch and after watching a ton of reviews on YouTube, I decided on the Galaxy Watch 5.I love the watch but hate the band. I am not reviewing the band but it does seem like if they offer you a classy looking watch they could offer something other than the plastic bands. The setup is extremely easy with the app downloaded on the phone. I have a Samsung phone which may have made it easier and I don’t think all the functions work with other Android phones. I love all the features and integration of the numerous health and lifestyle apps. When I am sitting around the house and have my Samsung phone on the table next to me or in another room, it is great to just look at my wrist to keep up with texts and emails instead of having to chase my phone down.I followed the tips and tricks from a couple of the instructional videos online and find that the battery has adequate life. I charge my phone every nigh so it is no big deal to have the watch off my wrist for an hour or so during the day so it can charge back up. I keep the display in the “Always On” mode except when I go to bed. I then turn that mode off and set the face to a dim display so it doesn’t beam in my face when I turn over at night. Even with the Always On mode activated, the display does go to a dimmer mode after a few seconds. Twisting your wrist or using the other functions will bring it back to full brightness. The watch had a full charge on it around 10 AM yesterday and today at 5 PM it is showing 54% of the charge remaining.Being a retired worker and family room supervisor I didn’t wear a watch most days anyway unless I was going out. I am wearing this constantly except when it is charging or I am taking a shower. I find that it is extremely comfortable (except when I had a cheap 3rd party metal band installed on it that cut into my wrist). Even though the silicone band is cheesy. The body of the watch is very light weight and comfortable. The bottom line…it has every function available that you could ever want or need and it can be dressed up to give it almost any look you like. I went with the brushed aluminum face so I can put a nice metal band on it and wear it to a senior citizen’s prom, or put the silicon band back on for a sweaty sports event. (The one complaint I do have is, the spring clip on the band are a real pain to get clipped back if you are into switching bands. It took me about 10 minutes of fiddling this morning to get those tiny pins back in place. Every time I though I had them locked in, when I tugged on the band, I had the watch in one had and half the strap in the other). It’s nice to read all the reviews here, but for the best impression of the watch I found it more useful to watch the evaluation videos online, especially the tips, tricks, and suggested functions that you should install once you power the watch up.

    Easy to Use

So far I am very happy with this watch. It has been easy to learn and use. I enjoy being able to customize it and have the option to buy other accessories to change up the look. The band it came with was too wide for my preference, but there were plenty of options to choose from to order a new one and change it out with ease. I wear it all day/night and only take it off to charge while showering which is morevthan enough time to bring it back to 100%. The battery gets me through all day unless I am doing a lot more than out of my ordinary routine with the watch. Being able to listen to my ear buds and music without having to drag my phone along has been handy too. It would be nice if the battery life was longer, but I am still very happy with it. I was concerned about setting it up with Verizon based on some other reviews, but it all went smoothly for me.

A big disappointment so far (battery life, poor tracking, lousy reporting…)

I bought this for my wife, and she’s been pretty disappointed so far. It’s a shame, because I was planning to get another one for myself, and now I’ll have to re-think my options. Here’s her feedback:I chose the Galaxy Watch 5 primarily to replace a fitness tracker (Amazon’s Halo, which is being shut down), thinking the other features would be a nice perk. The problem is the health and sleep trackers are terrible.- Halo’s sleep tracking was the most accurate I’ve ever used. It caught every time I woke up, it was spot on with REM cycles (as I often wake mid-dream, so I know when they’re ending), etc. The Watch 5’s sleep tracking is lacking. It misses awake time, and it likes to lump far too much into “light sleep” even when I know I was in REM before waking. The Halo also tracked deep sleep well, and it generally showed earlier in the night like you’d expect. The Watch 5 shows me going in and out of deep sleep all night, which isn’t generally how sleep cycles work (usually more deep sleep early and more REM later). I suspect it’s tied to the Watch 5 messing up REM tracking and just categorizing it as anything else.Other health tracking is equally bad:- The O2 sensor routinely shows drastic drops at night (as in below 80). There’s no sleep apnea or anything like that at play. This seems to happen whenever it disconnects from the wrist slightly. You’ll see dotted lines when this happens. But it happens all night long. The watch is either too loose or too tight. You’ll need a third party band that doesn’t rely on notches if you want it to fit properly for scans. This happens with one-off O2 checks as well, even when an oximeter shows me at 98% and the Watch 5 will show low 90s or even lower. You can’t trust it.- There is no ability to use the blood pressure feature in the U.S. This was a key reason this watch was chosen, and I went with it because people in the Q&A kept saying it was finally enabled here. It is not (as of May 1, 2023). To be able to use it, you’ll have to side-load a different version of the app from a third party. I’m not comfortable with this when it comes to health information and who could gain access to it. Had this been clearer up-front, it would have been a deal killer.- The heart rate monitor is mostly OK, but I’ll see wild fluctuations sometimes when I have the live monitor on the watch face (set to check continuously, not it’s not an “every 10 min” thing). For example, it might show 120, then suddenly drop to 80 or 90 before settling in with a proper live measurement (double-checked with the oximeter and blood pressure monitor’s heart rate results).- The ECG is an absolute joke. It’s dangerous this is even included in its current state. I’ve had concerns in the recent past and have had full work-ups with a cardiologist (I’m fine). This ECG monitor frequently comes back with Afib results. Thing is, I know how to read an ECG report, and they do not show anything close to Afib. I also have a (much better) ECG monitor, so when I see those results, I double check with that. It’s always normal. If you search a bit, you’ll find false positive Afib readings are quite common on Galaxy watches, leading people to panic for no reason and spend a lot of money on doctor’s visits, holter tests, 12-lead ECGs, etc. only to be told nothing is wrong. If you have heart issues, you can’t rely on this. If you don’t, this could raise your stress significantly for no reason. At least with the blood pressure option they’re withholding from us, you could calibrate things. You can’t with this. And again it seems to be an issue with their contacts (either not accounting for fluctuations up front as you situate your finger, or the wrist contact not being secure enough).Oh, and if you actually want to use regular health monitors (like continuous heart rate tracking and o2 tracking while you sleep), expect to charge this thing daily. And this is the 44mm. The 40mm has a smaller battery, so I can’t even imagine how bad that’s going to be. (And no, I’m not leaving the screen on 24/7 or anything like that.)Back to the heart rate monitor… another key reason I picked this smart watch was because I was told it could sound alerts if you hit target heart rates. Nothing at all like that. All you can do is set a single max and min for an alert. And the max can’t be higher than 150, which is nowhere near my max. Worse, this only works while you’re at rest, if your heart rate spikes for no reason. My interest was much more about monitoring my heart rate zones during workouts because I sometimes push too hard for too long. I wanted alerts when I exceeded a target while working out so I’d know to ease off a bit when I go too hard. So basically, all the health functions I bought this for are a bust.I haven’t thoroughly tested the step counting yet, and I’ve barely used any other apps given I mostly got this for health and fitness monitoring. On those fronts though, this device is looking like an absolute failure. Long-time Samsung customers, so husband and I were hoping these would work well with our s22 ultra and s23 ultra, but what’s the point of having extra features if you use a Samsung phone if you can’t rely on them for anything?

    Love my watch!

I purchased this watch to replace a similar one which was worn out. I initially was a little concerned as it was used. It arrived in pristine condition with a new band and works perfectly. If I had not known it was used, I would have thought it was brand new. Everything such as the heart monitor and step counter work as they should. The watch is of excellent quality and I would not hesitate to purchase again.

blood pressure monitoring is not enabled by Samsung in USA

I am giving this watch a three out of five because despite top recommendations by NIH for THIS brand, the single reason I bought the watch was for blood pressure monitoring. Samsung blocks blood pressure monitoring in the USA. For my purposes, this resulted in the watch not being functional (more details below). However, if someone is getting this for its overall and many various Smartwatch features, then I’m sure they’ll love it based on what my friends shared (before & after I bought & returned this watch). Background and Details:NIH recommended this watch for blood pressure monitoring (and yes, National Institute of Health is USA based…). However, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Smartwatch does not have blood pressure monitoring enabled in the United States. Researching, there are possible hacks one can take to get around this Samsung limitation, but instead I decided to return this watch. I’d bought the watch to help get continuous blood pressure readings on my disabled blind mother who has orthostatic hypotension, as well as other medical conditions. I’ve friends with this watch who LOVE it. Unfortunately, I bought it for the single function of blood pressure monitoring. The seller and Amazon made return easy.Because my mom is legally blind and disabled with mobility challenges, I already had her in a different smartwatch brand and also a fitness tracker to assist me in tracking her activity and to enable communication. Adding this third wrist-based device did eliminate her desire to keep wearing the fitness tracker going forward, leaving her with her original smartwatch which is the latest of its type on the market. Her doctor recommended trying a different blood pressure only wrist-based, watch looking (but not a watch) which is on order. Annoyingly, I found no logical reason that Samsung (and other manufacturers) are blocking blood pressure monitoring in the USA for numerous multifunction devices, like this smartwatch.

    Decent watch, but connection issues

I’ve had this watch for one full year. Here are the pros and cons from my PO.Pros: This watch looks nice and isn’t too large-looking on my wrist. It’s easy to use and has a nice display. If someone texts me a photo, I can see it pretty well on the watch screen (at least well enough to respond appropriately). Step count and exercise tracking seems to be accurate, as well as sleep tracking. I like the customizable options for watch faces – there are endless options to choose from that show exactly what you want to see, and none of what you’re not interested in, plus options for changing the color as well. I found the watch a little oversensitive as far as the “touch to activate the screen” feature, but was pleased to find that I could turn off the feature entirely.Cons: The biggest issue I have is that the watch disconnects from my phone multiple times a day for no reason. The phone will be in my back pocket (so definitely close enough for Bluetooth to work) and they still disconnect. So it has to be manually reconnected each time that happens if I want to use the watch to receive texts, etc. I do have a Samsung Galaxy phone, and I don’t have connectivity issues with other Bluetooth things, so I believe it’s the watch that’s the issue. One other issue I have (and I recognize this is highly specific to me) is that it isn’t compatible with the WW/Weight Watchers app – the only way I can sync my steps to the WW app is using the silly workaround of syncing the steps from the watch to Google Fit, then syncing Google Fit to the WW app. As you can imagine this doesn’t always work well and requires manual syncing on both apps. I talked with customer service of both Samsung and WW, with no success. A little internet research shows plenty of other WW users having the exact same problem. So I would not recommend this watch if you intend to use that specific app.Overall, it’s a decent watch – the connection problems with my phone and with an app I had hoped to use have just been frustrating.

AOD and Notifications dont work with tattoos

The media could not be loaded.

I mean. I love the watch. Its my first smart watch. And its a flagship device.. its nice.. but let me start by saying, I used someones prime to order this item and am now leaving the review. I ordered the 40mm version which comes with a s/m band that did not fit my 8 and a half inch wrist (circumfrance). So I returned it and bought the 44mm which looks better on my wrist and came with a perfect m/L band. So if your a male with 8+ inch wrists, get the 44mm.But after wearing the watch for a few days, both versions, I realized why my AOD keeps turning off or I dont get notifications… tattoos! The cenosor that detects if your wearing the watch or not cannot penetrate dark ink tattoos. If I place it perfectly on a small piece of skin between my tattoos it will work. Or if I wear it on my right wrist (refuse to continue that). It stays in place pretty well once you strap it on, so sometimes I can go hours with it on my tattooed wrist before it moves slightly. But this is not a fix.1 fix I have researched is 1 inch clear epoxy bottlecap stickers. Theyre a small dome like clear sticker that you can place over the censor to “magnify” the light and videos all over are proving it works and doesnt add discomfot. So I ordered a pack of 300 for 11.99 on Amazon and hopefully they work so I can have some freedom of the watch moving on my wrist.I would have gave 5 stars if it wasnt for this issue because theyve known about the issue for 2 and a half years and have yet to release a update allowing users to have a toggle setting to turn off wrist detection… they ignore it like it doesnt exist since the watch 4 so Im not hopeful by any means theyll fix it anytime soon.Pretty wild to me that they wouldnt fix this for tattooed users… if the stickers dont work Ill probly send it back and get a better watch. But if you dont have tattoos, its a 5 star watch all day. Battery life is nice.. but I guess thats all perspective. I dont mind charging my devices daily so with average use of the watch it lasts me about 24 hours with AOD on. Im sure you couod get multiple days out of it with some features turned off and powet saving enabled but, I didnt spend 330$ on a watch for it to run at 20% capacity lol… then again, I spent 330$ on a watch that cant even realize Im wearing it.. so lol.UPDATE 1 MO LATER: The epoxy stickers WORK. You sadly cannot charge the device with the sticker on though so you must replace it with a new sticker everytime you charge it because when you remove the old sticker it messes up the clarity of the sticker which allows the light of the censor to “passthrough” to get “magnified”. I found a pack of 300 stickers for 11.99 on amazon and I see some people are selling half of that for more.. so dont get ripped off. I kept the watch as Ive found it to be very useful at work.. still rating it the same for its lack of functionality for tattooed users and simply because the compamy itself has been so negligent to the resolution for years. Hope this helps!Update #2 (9 months laters, or so)Ended up selling the watch because the sensor and doing the whole put the epoxy sticker on n off routine got real old real quick. The stickers would leave behind a residue after being warmed up by my wrist that I would have to clean off everytime I wanted to charge the watch. Maybe it was just those stickers. Idk. Idc. But if you have dark tattoos, not a good buy.

Love the Watch, Hate the Band.

The band.. I absolutely hate it. Its like, they made it this frustrating so that you would NEED to buy another one. But I refuse, I ain’t that weak.. you ain’t getting my money like that.. I’ve come to grips with the fact its just an annoyance I have to deal with in order to have the watch…I gave the App a 4 Star as it doesn’t feel like they put much into it.The watch though? Amazing, I just wish I bought the 44 for the battery life.

    Great for value

I purchased it for my mom. All is fine – she loved it. The only problem is its band’s size – it is too small. If the user’s hand is not skinny, it might not be applicable.

    Started at 3, now we’re here…

Started at 3 stars, now after a few weeks of use I’m upgrading my review to 5.Well it doesn’t do everything I want a smartwatch to do (acknowledge Duo Security prompts, have a Google voice app on the watch), it does just about everything else and does it amazingly well.Without having a Google Pixel watch to compare it to, but only an Apple watch of my partner’s, I can say from my experience that this is as close as you’ll get to an Apple watch for an Android device.Day 4: Google Assistant on my watch – so easy to set timers and reminders. Audio cues when running – SO nice to not have to look at my watch. The ability to download Spotify playlists and play them on my Bluetooth headphones while running – magic.Day 1 impressions:* The initial setup was a convoluted multi-step process, especially as I didn’t even have a Samsung account.* The Galaxy Wearable app is faster and MUCH more useful than the Fitbit app. Unlike the Fitbit app, where there are some settings that you can only change from the watch, you can actually change settings in the app which are pushed to the watch. SO nice compared to flicking through a tiny screen to set settings.* The default band is too small for a larger wrist, so I’m already shopping around for replacement bands.* Unlike Fitbit, where everything is in one app, you need to install another app (Samsung Health) to look at health data. BUT it’s looking like I won’t have to pay for advanced data, unlike Fitbit Premium, which is $80 a year if you pay annually ($10/mo if monthly).* Compared to the Fitbit Sense, the Galaxy 5 battery is crap, but that makes sense considering how much more “active” and engaging the UI is (which is more akin to the Apple Watch). With my Sense, I only had to charge the battery every 3 days – I’m already getting a sense that the Galaxy 5 will have to be charged every day.* The UI on the 5 is SO much better than the Sense. And faster. OMG, I love this thing compared to the Sense.* So far, sleep data is NOT accurate. I know I got about 8 hours of sleep last night, but the 5 says 5 hours.* Apparently, WearOS 3 is NOT compatible with Duo Security – so you can’t acknowledge Duo notifications from your watch. BOOO!

    Handy little thing

This is my first “genuine” smart watch per say. I have had one of those 50 dollar smart watches, and it was just ridiculous, did not work properly at all, so, that is all I have to compare it to. This watch is wonderful, I’m rather impressed with the way it can be so accurate with my sleep patterns (as I never sleep very well) all the different little apps that work so well with it. The fact that I can just shove my phone in my sling bag and not bother with it on trips (cause I have my watch!) is just awesome… No more huge bulky phone in my back pocket. I can answer calls or text right there on my watch. Also- something to think about… If you have an elderly parent- get them one of these watches…. one of my friend’s mom fell the other day and laid on the ground in the rain for 2 hours until her kids came home and found her. If she had one of these watches, it would have really helped. you can even program google voice on it to say “hey google, call carl” . so it can really be a life saver as well. The only thing I am not too impressed with is the battery life, and they say this is an improved battery, so it must have been much worse. with my phone, it is good to go all day and i just plug it in at night, with this watch, (with wearing it during sleep times) I am having to find a happy medium with charging it sometime in the morning, and maybe in the evening before I go to bed.All in all, it’s a great watch.

Better safety tool for seniors accustomed to wearing a watch!

I am technology challenged and was still able to set up the basic features. My senior loved one uses a mobile phone but doesn’t always remember to keep it close. They have also fallen previously and despite having their mobile phone in their hand at the time, were unable to use it to get help. They have always worn a watch so this was a great solution to give everyone peace of mind. They are still learning the hands free features, but this is a less stigmatizing, more cost effective, more natural, and a more overall useful alternative to typical senior safety alert systems. The hard fall detection feature can be set up to notify someone if it detects a fall and can be worn and allow the user to communicate hands free anywhere cellphone service is available, including the shower, without bulky extra equipment or devices one wouldn’t ordinarily have. Some safety features can be set up to function automatically by a loved one even without an elderly wearer having to do anything other than charge and wear it. The battery needs to be charged more often (day and a half or so for us) given its advanced features, but it is way less expensive and more effective than alternatives. We got it for the safety tools but it also has health tracking features that are useful for everyone. It appears to have the ability to “find my device” which if set up properly by a caregiver might provide additional safety. I haven’t actually tested that feature so do your own research. My mother loves it and I intend to get myself accustomed to wearing a watch so it might help my children’s peace of mind later on when I become more fragile.

    Mostly love it

Only a few complaints with this watch, and not enough to knock off more than 1 star. It’s not working well with the smartthings app. I’m not sure if it’s smartthings or the watch though. It won’t let me see my ring cams like 9 out of 10 times. It says it needs to connect to wifi and takes me to the connections, then you go back and it just “thinks” forever and doesn’t ever work. If you go out of one cam and back in, it says it needs to connect to the wifi again. Rinse and repeat. Every once in awhile it works though, and I’m not sure what the difference is.The battery life is just OK. But it’s fine for what I need it for. I don’t wear it to bed, so I just charge it each night. If you change it to only turn on with a tap instead of movement, it doubles the life of the battery. But that’s slightly less convenient. It does charge quickly though. So if you wear it to bed and don’t charge it then, you can probably get it back to full if you charge it during a long-ish shower. The most useful thing has been that I can silence my phone alarms. I walk away from my phone often during the day, and being able to silence it without running across the house is handy. But….sometimes the alarm doesn’t pop up on my watch. It’s not often that it fails, but a bit annoying.I like having so many watch faces to choose from, and the option of downloading more from the app store. Being able to make changes on the app on my phone saves some of the watch battery. I wear it on my right wrist and was easily able to change the orientation so the buttons are where I want them. The strap is uncomfortable, so I just bought other ones. They change out easily. It requires a lock screen if you set up Samsung pay, but you only have to unlock it once. If it stays on your wrist, it stays unlocked, until you take it off, then it resets. When I first read it had to have a lock screen, I was kind of annoyed till I saw how the feature worked. It is well thought out.I don’t think the O2 sensor is very accurate but I haven’t tried it next to our nellcor pulse ox, I just know that it gets me around 94 consistently when I normally run about 98-99. But I don’t expect much out of this type of O2 sensor. Any O2 sensor that can’t see through to a second point is going to lack accuracy, it’s just how it works. If you compare it to a medical grade pulse ox you’ll be able to see how low it tends to run, and then adjust your expectations.

    The BEST Smartwatch I’ve Owned

Best Smartwatch I have owned. I previously had a Samsung Galaxy Watch 4, Huawei Watch 2 Sport Smartwatch, a Fossil Carlyle Gen 5, and Fitbit Charge 2, 3, and 4. THIS watch blows them ALL away!Pros:First of all, I have to point out that the Galaxy Watch 5 is so much lighter, it feels like the weight of a traditional watch. This was surprising because the battery life is so much better, this watch could run for nearly 3 days without a charge. Unlike previous watches, which at their best could only provide 1 daytime of use and needed to be recharged nightly. I can finally sleep with this watch through the night comfortably and see accurate stats for my sleep quality. It packs all the features you should expect from a Smartwatch and executes them so well. The integration with an android phone is just as easy as previous generations of Wear OS watches using the Wear OS app, but this one uses Samsung’s Galaxy Wearable app. From a great little display, with UI that uses the space well while still being very informative and not an eye strain, allowing you to see time and notifications at a glance to the health sensors that can read your pulse, your skin temperature, your oxygen levels, your stress, your body composition, even ECG readings if you have a Samsung Phone as well, this watch covers the full slew of features. Notifications come through the watch as soon as they are on your phone. NFC payments are easy to use, so perhaps you can forego bringing your wallet or at least not having to pull it out of your pocket. Tracking walks and other exercise activity is easy as well.Cons:The fact you must have a Samsung phone for the ECG feature is very frustrating. The feature is built into the watch, the phone should not matter. The integration with other fitness apps and Health Connect is finicky and often requires stopping access and providing it again. Working with more fitness applications and services such as Virgin Pulse or even just better integration with Google Fit would improve the experience. Conclusion:A real smartwatch that can be used as a phone accessory and still look great while running for a lot longer than some other brands!

    Best most comfortable smart watch

My gf wanted a smartwatch to track her fitness goals and after doing tons of research I decided this was the best. I like it so much better than the tickwatch pro 3 I was using I bought myself one as well. So comfortable you forget your wearing anything at all. Battery life is fine, you can get a day and a half off a single charge and I typically only charge it when I shower or when I’m getting ready for bed. Nice bright screen with a great deal of quality apps, customization, and additional functionality. Particularly love that there is a find my phone widget and the flashlight one is pretty great too. The interface is intuitive and I like that you can add short cut access on the home screen. I use it primarily to track my fitness and get quick access to notifications and weather.Cons: while a day and a half may not seem very long for battery life it still blows the pixel and apple watch out of the water which typically last less than a day from what reviewers say. If you do not use a Samsung phone, 2 of the apps will not work with your phone by default. One being the EKG and the other being the blood pressure monitor. Imo they are more gimmicks and probably don’t work as well as dedicated devices, however there is a way to side load them onto the watch and your phone. There are great YouTube videos showing how. The watch came with the larger version of the watch band and my wrists require me to strap it as tight as it will allow to fit comfortably. I’m 5’11” 165lbs so if you are much smaller or weigh much less than me you might want to get the smaller band.I would absolutely recommend this smart watch to anyone it’s great. If you are trying to decide between the 5 and the 5 pro I’ve tried both on and here is the difference. They are both just as comfortable to wear, but the pro is a little thicker and weightier because of the bigger battery. You will notice that your wearing a watch with the pr. With the non pro I often don’t even realize I’m wearing it. If having about 3 days worth of battery and a slightly more rugged watch is more worth it then feeling like your not wearing anything get the pro. Otherwise for most people I recommend the regular 5. The tickwatch pro 3 I had before became so uncomfortable to wear I would only put it on for workouts. So having something so lightweight and comfortable was an easy pick for me.

Love it, but battery life is abysmall

It is a very handy device, but the battery life is abysmal. With the sync setting and health apps I use I typically get just under 24 hours. That sound’s like plenty, but If you sleep with it on it isn’t.I still recommend it but be aware you need to charge nearly once every day If you use it to monitor heart rate or SPO2

    Best watch!

So, I previously had the Galaxy Watch Active 2. That one lasted just over three years before it ended up dying on me. I was devastated, and did much much research on this option before purchasing! I am absolutely amazed by this watch! If you really set it up well and LEARN the watch and it’s functions, it’s the perfect fitness companion! I use this mainly for walking/jogging, gym workouts, and step counting through the day. Battery life could be better, but if you turn on power saving mode, you could easily get two days on a full charge! I’ve noticed that if you keep heart rate monitor continuously on, it does drain it faster! The step counter could be better, but having the right settings on your watch is so crucial! I love this watch, and the heart monitor and sleep monitor is pretty impressive! When paired with Samsung Health as intended, It shows a breakdown of the data collected from your watch. I recommend this watch to just about everyone because I’m blown away by how advanced the features are! Love this watch!

Warning For Those That Want Health Tracking

I had a primary goal in mind when I began to watch shop, and this would not only be my first smart watch, but first watch in general. I knew I wanted the basics of a watch, namely some addition to my style efforts, but getting back into fitness and living a healthy life; a tracker for all the things that may help gauge my progress. Therefore, from a watch perspective, and style perspective, this watch crushes. It tells the time, and the highlight of this is the ability to change the watch face. You can go old school long and short hand, or new school with a digital display and dozens of options in between. The watch is slick, modern, and compliments any outfit. In my opinion, it far surpasses some of the watches out there such as the Apple version which is thick, more square, and an obvious smart watch. I love the Galaxy watch because it doesn’t have any tell-tell signs of being a smart watch.I wasn’t sure what to expect out of a smart watch since this was my first. One of the most pleasant surprises is seeing the notifications pop up, without grabbing my phone. I frequent sites with two-factor authentication and seeing those codes pop right up on my wrist has been a major time saver. All in all, the immediate view of the time (basic watch functionality), notifications, and the basic customization and slick look drives this watch to be a great thing to own. That however is where the dissapointments begin. As previsouly stated, I purchased this, largely, to be a fitness tracker. I was extremely interested in the sleep tracking as my sleep is terrible, and I’m trying to determine if I have sleep apnea (not from this alone). I also wanted a live time tracker of my heart rate as well as a step counter. I could have gone with cheaper options that do these things, such as the higher end fitbit, or even other smart watches on the market such as the fossil. I watched dozens of reviews on all of them, and ultimately settled on this watch, as I figured it would have the greatest synergy between it and my Galaxy S21 phone. I also figured that with it having a higher price point, that the tracking would be superior. Prepare for disappointment.I don’t know. Perhaps the tracking is fine but you have to be within the realm of accurate to feel confident in the results. For example, the sleep tracker is not tracking sleep. If I go to bed at 9PM, lay there for an hour, then sleep from 10-5, but also lay in bed after waking; the watch counts this from laying down to getting up, 9PM to 6AM. Night after night, I sleep with varying factors, some nights tossing and turning, but each morning, the watch gives me about the same result. Knowing I’m a poor sleeper, the deep sleep and REM time ratings simply can’t be accurate. My previous partner use a fitbit, not even the highest end model, and the sleep rating for her felt a lot more accurate, not counting the time she laid in bed, but rather the time she truly slept. It supposedly tracks blood-oxygen levels while you sleep. One day it showed me at 89%, not healthy but perhaps believable. Last night, it showed me at 55% which, I’m fairly certain I would be dead at that rate. I would think the watch may try to wake me if that was true. It supposedly tracks body-weight but I knew that wasn’t correct when it put me at 9% – I WISH! The next day it put me at 14%. Sadly, neither are true right now.The absolute most infuriating piece of this poor tracking is quite simply that it doesn’t do it in live time. If I want to track my steps through out the day, I have to be “recording” my walk. It doesn’t seem to capture my steps on an elliptical, although I can switch it to elliptical mode. Keep in mind there are so many different modes, you may be switching them constantly throughout a workout. The more annoying one in this situation is the heartrate monitor. I wanted to be working out and glance at my watch to see this in live time. Nope, you have to click on the heart rate, then run it to get your heart rate. Then, again, every time you want an updated rate. Conclusion on fitness tracking; it sucks. I check my sleep record in the morning for very rough, arguably not accurate report on how I slept. If desperate, in the gym, wanting to know my heart rate, I can stop and run the reader and hope it’s accurate. Compared to the treadmill reader, it is not accurate. All in, I would not recommend this for a fitness tracker. And that’s really where you have to question if you need a smart watch. I will keep this because it adds to my style, and I do love the notifications. However, the navigation, even with this being the 5th iteration of the watch, leaves a lot to be desired.Swiping Right = Brings up notifications, but it’s difficult to scroll to previous notificationsSwiping Left = Brings up available trackers such as the aforementioned step counter for various activities (but not things like the heart rate tracker even though those would be great here)Swiping Up = Brings up an apps menu, of which I have used none. This is frustrating because it is pre-loaded with a dozen apps and you can’t seem to remove ones you don’t need. And Finally,Swiping Down = Same as your phone – various indicators, silence functions, etc…If you have a galaxy phone like the S21 or later that doesn’t have a physical button, you’re likely used to swiping right to go back – this does not carry over to the watch, you must learn to use a home button again. While you may want the heart rate counter, or step counter ready on the go, there appears to be zero way of activating those, other than the small buttons on the face that you can add, but only on some of the watch faces, most of which only hold a maximum of four widgets. AND, one of those widgets is the battery indicator. If you want to have a quick view of your remaining battery percentage, and you want to use another widget for the date, that only leaves 2 spots or less for the things you do want. Considering this watch supposedly tracks quite a few things, you’re limited at clicking into only two points of tracking. AND, if you want to view more, you seem to have to go into your phone, change the watch face, and add those trackers, which will replace the other ones you may want to see. Conclusion; it’s pretty crappy if you want to track multiple items as you can’t just switch to those trackers from the watch face. They must be added in advance, or you have to pull out your phone and completely change how your watch is setup. I believe you can potentially add them as “Tiles” which is accessed by scrolling the screen in a circular motion but try doing that when you’re in the middle of a workout. While I’ve decided to award this watch only 3 stars, it is nice enough to recommend it. I’m not sure if any of the other models would have been better. Some folks complain about the battery life, but it charges so quickly, it’s not a deal breaker for me. It’s a nice watch, still worth the price, but the moral of the story; don’t trust the trackers, nor expect an easy going time dealing with them.I hope this review helps someone make their decision!

    Battery is lacking

I had a fit bit for 5 years, I loved that the battery lasted 5 or 6 days. I wished it did more, so when it finally died I researched the galaxy watches. I decided the galaxy 5 seemed to be the best choice. I love that it does more, does what I was looking for and more that I don’t need, but the battery life is terrible. Fit bit has the win for battery life but galaxy has the win for everything else.

    Glorified fitness tracker

Watch: Galaxy 5, 40mm (Bluetooth/WiFi)Phone: Galaxy S10+I work in situations where I can’t be checking my phone all the time for messages and emails, many being time sensitive, so I thought a smartwatch would be a solution. Well, I slept on it, and I decided it’s not for me. Firstly, it would be easier to read messages had this been a rectangular clock face rather than a circle. Can’t really reply to emails except with a word or two or maybe one sentence. Also had to download Outlook to my phone because the watch can’t get Gmail or Yahoo Mail by itself. Have to talk-to-text because the keyboard is so tiny. It’s also a pain flipping through ABC and #s constantly on the keyboard. It might look bigger on a bigger watch face. 40mm feels large on my tiny wrist, so I wouldn’t want bigger. Since the watch uses its own app store, it doesn’t support many of the everyday apps used on phones, like social media apps. I utilize Facebook Messenger, Instagram DMs and WhatsApp a lot, but can’t really do that on this watch (well, there are some get-arounds that I found on YouTube, but they do not translate well on this watch). You can get notifications from some of those phone apps, but cannot respond to them in the watch. It is also frustrating scrolling through the apps on the watch. It is basically only useful as a clock and fitness tracker. The battery life doesn’t seem great. It was already in the 80-90% range after an hour after being charged to 100%. I’m glad I miraculously had a USB-C input power wall adapter from a charging pad I have because I didn’t realize it didn’t come with a power wall adapter…most adapters I have are USB-3.1 inputs. It only comes with the USB-C cord with the magnetic charger.Another problem I had was that it was causing pain and tingling in my wrist, hands, and fingers. I loosened up the straps, but was still getting this feeling, so I am guessing it is from the sensors and not because I had it on my wrist too tightly. I Googled this and seems I’m not alone.I do like how it syncs easily to my phone, and that I can fix all the watch settings through the Wear (Galaxy Wearable) app on my phone rather than go blind trying to do them on the watch.

    Plan to do some work

There is nothing really wrong with this watch. It does what it says it will do. Sometimes. Most of the time.Importantly, and often not mentioned, the phone has clear notifications. You can hear it when the phone in your pocket might be muffled. It is only mildly irritating. It would be nice if the vibration could be a bit stronger, but I’ve certainly had worse. Still, easy to miss a call on vibration only. Can’t speak to phone call clarity as I don’t use that feature.Battery life is what it is, lasts almost two days with little to moderate use. It DOES charge quickly, 0 to 100 in less than 2 hours. Even with degradation over time, this is completely workable. The display is nice, vibrant and clear and I would have been able to read it easily 20 years ago. It is generally readable with some effort even with my damaged eyesight. Some watch faces are better than others. I’m sure there are some apps that might improve this functionality, once I get to that point.Making the features work, however, is a challenge. Evidently the art of writing intelligible directions is dead. YouTube tutorials aren’t any better and they eat up more of your time. Resign yourself to the fact that you will just have to experiment with the watch to find out how it actually works. The design is not especially intuitive, nor totally consistent, but I have been able to make all features work… eventually.Of course, this watch does a lot, and everything I’ve checked seems to work. It is flexible in setup to give you decent access to the features. The sleep analysis is good. Other health features seem ok and line up with other devices in terms of accuracy. The app could be a lot better in terms of storing and processing health data.Lastly, it may just be me and/or my specific watch, but the phone’s recognition of “gestures” is inconsistent at best. At least my left arm and wrist are getting some exercise as I wave it around trying to get the phone to do what it is supposed to do… like tell the time. Touch gestures on the watch face are a little better. I’ve finally figured out the delicate touch to get the phone to reject a call, which usually works, unless it doesn’t. I suspect that I’ll get better at it with time and practice… and work… and frustration… and maybe a different watch.

You don’t need a cellular phone plan! You can talk on it! Connects to house internet.

So not necessarily a dislike, but the chargers are new now they’re not gonna fit your adapters(The old ones) they’re smaller. But I had already purchased them for my new phone. Because now they’re making all the charging ports smaller for some reason. So if you don’t have one of the new charging port things/you’re not gonna be able to charge your watch. You need a USB-C adapter. You don’t have to have a cellular phone or a Separate Data plan( T-Mobile tried to hustle me) Because my watch connects to my house’s internet. And to my boyfriend’s internet when I go to his house. So anywhere your phone that you attached to the watch goes and connects to the internet the watch will remember it and connect automatically. It also tells you your sleep patterns, how much you sleep deeply and rem sleep. Et cetera, which is kind of spooky like how do they know that? Although there is a pulsating green light that comes on when you put it on your wrist & the greatest part, you can answer calls and talk on your watch. Just like Inspector Gadget, I’m so serious. I just had a long conversation with my girlfriend in Texas. The watch and the phone rang at the same time. I answered the watch and we talked for a couple of hours. This phone is awesome.!!!!!!!P.S. I ordered the lavender color & got silver instead, but it’s cool Samsung.

    Great price for decent product

I bought this for my mom for Christmas and ended up returning it because she said that the face was too big for her wrist. Aside from that, everything ran properly and it was a really good price.

    Good smart watch

This watch is exactly what I was searching for. I can answer my phone with it, count my steps, monitor heart rate and sleep habits. I wish it came with interchangeable bands. I don’t care for the way it needs to be charged on its on charger. Wish it would plug into a standard charger so I didn’t need to tote around an extra cable. But I would buy this watch again.

I No longer will purchase Samsung Telephones or Watches

Over the past decade I’ve owned four Samsung Galaxy phones and two Samsung Galaxy watches. The design and quality of the watches, phones and especially Samsung’s software is on a downward path.First the good of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5. I like the band on the watch – the end of the band tucks under the other half of the band. It gives a clean look and works pretty well. The constant on display is works fairly well – when it works IE there are software problems with it and a lots of other things. A bit surprisingly, the constant on display appears to be pretty power efficient IE consuming little power. The inductive/wireless charging is nice and works well. The bad. Battery life of a charge is semi-short. Not a total surprise but still less than advertised. I can get through 1 day with no problem. Trying to get though a second day is iffy. I always try to minimize power consumption by having GPS and WiFi turned off IE using Bluetooth only. The real problem with the Samsung Galaxy Phone and Watch combination is the crappy software. Erratic and buggy. I’ve had my Samsung Galaxy S22 (purchased from T-Mobile) and the Samsung Watch 5 (purchased from Amazon) for about 2 months now. The software is split between the phone and the watch. Every few days there appears to be “drama” with the software. I’ll give you some details of the latest time wasting episode that started last night (actually the trigger probably occurred a couple of days earlier).Note, the evil Google is the source of (much) the watch software that Samsung now provides.A couple of days ago the watch went into low power mode as the charge dropped to 10% (second day of use without a charge). Okay, fine. I charged the watch overnight to 100%. Watch doesn’t automatically come out of low power mode. That I think is a bad design decision. So last night I took the watch out of low power mode via the Samsung Galaxy Wearable app on the Galaxy S22 phone (UI Watch version 4.5, Software version R919XXU1AVH6, Google Pay services 22.42.12 (220300-481949630), System version 11, Wear OS version 3.5) IE to you that is the latest software version. After turning off low power mode, the first two text messages I received did not appear on the Galaxy Watch 5. The third text did appear on the watch. Then no more text messages or notifications appeared on the watch last night or this morning. There must have been a two dozen notifications not showing on the watch. Getting notifications on the watch was a major reason for the purchase so I don’t need to pull the phone out of my pocket and unlock it for every notification. So my this afternoon it was getting very annoying that I wasn’t receiving notification including telephone calls on the watch. So starting investigating. Nothing seemed obviously wrong. Switched Bluetooth off and on on the phone. Nothing. Switched Bluetooth off and on on the Galaxy 5 watch. Nothing. Rebooted/restarted the Galaxy phone. Nothing. Rebooted/restarted the Galaxy 5 watch. Nothing. What is going on? I looked at the Galaxy Wearable app on the phone. I couldn’t change the watch face. It looked like Bluetooth wasn’t working. Bluetooth was turned on for both the phone and watch. WiFi was off on both the phone and watch. I turned Bluetooth off and the back on the phone again as I had done before the reboot. Now the connection worked. Now I could change the watch face from the phone. This was a huge time waster. And a couple times a week I’ve had similar things happen. But this was among the worst. I had rebooted both the Galaxy S22 phone and Galaxy 5 watch a couple of minutes apart about 5 minutes earlier and it didn’t fix the problem. Now turning Bluetooth off and then on for the second time fixed the problem. Also I’m guessing the reboot helped but by itself the reboot didn’t fix the problem, which is pretty strange and unusual.Bottom line for me. I will not be purchasing Samsung phones or watches in the future. Also Google is playing a role in this fiasco. The watch was to save me time. I’m not saving time. The Galaxy Watch 5 is an unending time waster. I can not count on the Galaxy watch (or the Galaxy phone) to work reliably.

    Good, But a Bit Disappointing

I bought this for my wife around the same time I bought a Pixel watch for myself. The reason? I have a Pixel phone and she has a Samsung phone. Quite frankly I found the Pixel watch easier to set up, and it has some advantages like better access to Fitbit. Also the notifications are better on the Pixel watch and I think the watch face options are better on the Pixel. But either are fine choices, and this Samsung is generally significantly less expensive which will probably be the deciding factor for most people (that or their phone). Both use a proprietary magnetic charging disc which attaches to the phone to charge. They seem very similar, but I haven’t checked to see if they are interchangeable. Much better design than some proprietary designs I’ve seen on some fitness trackers. Battery life is rather similar (the tech press gives the Pixel a bad knock in that regard), but probably slightly better on the Samsung. Finally, the Pixel watch comes with two sizes of watch band, which can be useful if your wrist is either smaller or larger than average.

Had a FitBit Sense – super happy with this!

This is for the Watch 5 – 44mm:I’ve had another brand for years (FitBit) and have really enjoyed the health side of those devices. I have also used several from Garmin and they have a niche (I have a golf watch and one for outdoors, maybe more GPS..). Either way – I ran into charging issues after several years and thought about a change. I recently upgraded to a Samsung S23 and have the Samsung Buds 2 Pro, so it kind of made sense to tie the watch into the mix as everything was meant to work together.I was really surprised at the snappiness and responsiveness of the GUI and apps, some took some extra scrolling at first but then I organized it (which I couldn’t do on my others like this) and it is great. The Wear OS and integration with the Google Play store are great, FitBit apps weren’t updated or buggy – great for fitness, but this has a broader use than that alone. Screen resolution on the 44mm is incredible and it looks great, way more sleek than my other fitness models. My Sense would light up at random times at night, that doesn’t happen with this watch (and she noticed the first night and mentioned it too!!). It ties right into my phone, camera control is crazy, turning off alarms without having to roll around looking for my phone is great too. All in all – if the battery lasted longer, great. We are jamming so much horsepower and work into a small package, the battery can only be so big – I’ll trade off charging regularly (I already was ~ 3 days before), a bit more now… The features and watch are worth it to me!!

Comes as advertised – easy learning curve

This watch doesn’t have a steep learning curve as I had anticipated. If a text or FB message comes to my phone I can see it instantly. My only complaint is that it has a setting for “swift look at watch it will come on” …. it inconsistently work. That’s a let down . . It is possible that a rearragement of the items did this, but it should not have an impact on that particular setting. If you purchase one, don’t complicate with a dozen apps … I did, not a good move.

My Samsung 3 outshined this watch.

I bought the Samsung Watch 6 to replace my Samsung Watch 3. There were a few new features the 5 added so I was eager to try them out. I use my Samsung Watch mainly for steps, sport monitoring, calls, and text messages. Text messaging and calls are easier on the Samsung watch 5 as far as alerts and sending text messages from the watch. The 5 also added few additional features that i didnt use but I considered an added perk. There was one gripe I had which made me return this watch and that was the battery life. The 5 needed to be charged daily, otherwise I would run out of charge by the next day regardless if I was running it in battery save mode. At the end of the day, that was the reason I returned the watch and returned to my Galaxy watch 3. The new features were nice, but the main reason I upgraded was to have a better, long-lasting charge which I used to have with the Galaxy watch 3 when I first bought it. After using the Galaxy watch 5 For a few weeks, It became clear that my 3 actually kept the same to longer charge than the 5. I recognize that the 5 has the smaller capacity battery, but I don’t believe it’s a good sign when my galaxy watch 3 outperforms the 5. Granted, i could buy the 5 with an upgraded battery copacity but i wanted to stay within a similar budget of what i bought the 3 for. I’ll keep the 3 for a few more years until I’m swayed again to buy a new one. If battery life is important to you, you may want to consider upgrading to a larger battery capacity.

If you have a Samsung phone, get this watch.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 is a premium smartwatch that offers a wide range of features for both fitness enthusiasts and tech-savvy individuals. As someone who has been using this watch for several months, I can confidently say that it is one of the best smartwatches on the market today. One of the standout features of the Galaxy Watch 5 is its design. The watch is sleek and modern, with a rotating bezel that makes it easy to navigate through menus and apps. The 1.4-inch AMOLED display is vibrant and clear, making it easy to read notifications and messages. The watch comes in two sizes, 40mm, and 44mm, and both options are lightweight and comfortable to wear all day long. But the Galaxy Watch 5 isn’t just a pretty face – it’s packed with features that make it a versatile and useful tool. One of the most impressive features is its fitness tracking capabilities. The watch can track a wide range of activities, including running, cycling, swimming, and more. It also has a built-in GPS, so you can track your outdoor workouts without needing to bring your phone along. The watch also tracks your sleep patterns and offers personalized insights to help you get a better night’s rest.Another standout feature is the watch’s ability to make and receive calls and texts. With built-in LTE connectivity, you can leave your phone at home and still stay connected to the world around you. The watch also supports a wide range of apps, including popular options like Spotify, Uber, and Strava. One of the most impressive features of the Galaxy Watch 5 is its battery life. With normal usage, the watch can last up to two days on a single charge. And even when the battery is low, you can use the watch’s power-saving mode to extend the battery life even further. One disadvantage of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 is its price. As a premium smartwatch, it comes with a higher price tag than some other options on the market. This may not be a major concern for those who are looking for a top-of-the-line smartwatch with all the bells and whistles, but it may be a barrier for those who are on a tight budget. However, the high price is often justified by the watch’s quality and features, making it a worthwhile investment for many people.Overall, I would highly recommend the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 to anyone looking for a premium smartwatch that offers a wide range of features. From its sleek design to its impressive fitness tracking capabilities and long battery life, this watch is a true standout in the world of wearable technology.

    Great smartwatch

First off minus 1 star because it still does not have blood pressure approved for use in the US. Samsung has been promising it since the watch 2 and it is approved and is available for use outside of the USA.Now the positiveI have had a couple iterations of the Samsung watch I really like this version. Workout tracking is better on this version. It tracks movements, reps, heartrate and blood oxygen levels while working out. This smart watch really does a lot from emails, texts, calls, track sleep. Battery life is ok it will lasts me about 2 days. I have lots of notifications, I take calls on the watch, track workouts, and track sleep. I really like the sleep tracking on this version they have really stepped up this function. It will track how long you sleep, light sleep, REM, and deep sleep, how many times you wake up, if you snore and how long and you can play it back and listen to it later. It tracks your temperature, heart rate, and blood oxegen level while sleeping. Then gives you an overall score of how well you slept last night. If you are a woman it will track and log your temperature and tell you when you are going to start your period, what phase you are in and when you are in your fertile days. I don’t know what else to say but it’s a really cool watch.

Nice watch, but false advertising re: blood pressure for use in USA, bad battery life

I want to love this watch, but I cannot. The sleep and snore tracking are good, the automated physical activity detection is good, and the atrial fibrillation detection appears to be fully accurate. But. There are two critical issues.First and foremost, the ad here on the USA version of Amazon states clearly that watch has blood pressure measurement support. It does not. While the watch technically has the sensor to perform BP measurement, this feature is disabled in the USA. The smart phone app will allow you to manually record BP taken using a separate device, but there is no BP measurement app on the actual watch so there is no way to use the watch to measure and record BP.I’ve found nothing official from Samsung on this subject, but customer chat on the Samsung support forum indicates this is due to a lack of FDA approval for BP measurements on this device. This is a KNOWN, long-term issue that apparently exists across the Watch 4, 5, and 6. Someone has even come up with a hack to enable BP measurements in the USA (requires installing a hacked version of Samsung health monitor and an unauthorized app on the watch, so NOT recommended.)Given all this, saying in the USA that this watch measures BP is flat out false advertising. I bought this watch specifically for BP. Amazon should force this ad to be corrected and clearly state that BP measurement does not work in the USA.Second, and only modestly less irritating is that this watch has to be charged daily. That battery life is awful. I have to keep chargers everywhere in my house.I’ve had a FitBit and another off brand watch. Both were far better both on battery and with BP support. Otherwise, the Samsung Galaxy Watch blows them away. One other nit: it’s really easy to accidentally bring up the watch face selector on the watch and mess up the watch face. I’ve done this in my sleep. It’s annoying to have to keep fixing the watch face.

A good watch, but NOT worth upgrade from Watch4

This new Galaxy Watch 5 comes in 40mm or 44mm versions, and in so many ways it is VERY similar to the Watch 4. This year Samsung is NOT releasing a “Classic” version of the Galaxy Watch, instead they have a regular Watch 5 and a Watch 5 Pro. NEITHER version has a rotating bezel like the Watch 4 Classic had, which is a huge disappointment to me. I really liked the rotating bezel, and not even having any models with that option this year is frustrating.–UPGRADES from Watch 4 to Watch 5:-Bigger battery: Watch 5 has 410 mAh battery, Watch 4 had 361 mAh battery-Gorilla Glass Sapphire/ Shape of Back: This glass should be slightly more scratch resistant, and the bottom of the watch sits a little flatter against your skin.-Software additions: Improved sleep tracking features, updated version of OS (WearOS 3.5 with OneUI 4.5)That’s really it. Everything else about the hardware, from the display to the processor, RAM, speakers, everything is basically the same as the Watch 4. It just has slightly more scratch resistant glass, a shape that sits flatter on your wrist, and a bigger battery. None of these things are even very noticeable, and so overall this must be the smallest upgrade I’ve EVER seen in a smart watch. There are some slightly more advanced sleep-tracking features in the software, but still, this is barely an upgrade at all over the regular Watch 4. I can’t recommend upgrading to this Watch 5 if you have the Watch 4, and if you have the Watch 4 Classic, then I would consider this Watch 5 a significant DOWNGRADE, because you would absolutely miss the rotating bezel in the Watch 4 Classic. So, if you don’t own a smart watch at all, maybe you could consider getting this, but even then, you would probably be better off buying a Watch 4 because it will be less expensive. I honestly can’t think of any situation in which I would recommend buying this, even though there is really nothing wrong with it; it just doesn’t seem to be worth paying more for this if you have or can get a Watch 4. I will still test it out and see if I notice anything else over time, but so far this is very disappointing. Maybe the more advanced sleep-tracking data will impress me over time? Stick with the Watch 4 or Watch 4 Classic in my opinion.

Lacklust sleep tracking, but everthing else is good

Samsung needs to do some more work on their sleep tracking software. I have used other products that are much better at tracking your actual sleep cycles, feels like Samsung is just guessing most of the time. The battery is also a little lackluster; with battery saver turned on, wifi turned off and just bluetooth turned on it will last maybe 2 days just using it as a watch, no phone calls, etc. just watch functions.

Excellent watch, but Android 8 users should beware of two issues

Overall a great smartwatch and I got it as a good discount due to them being phased out (October 2023). 44mm width (display surface the same size as a poker chip) and LTE, which was a breeze to set up.Unfortunately while this watch is described by Samsung as supporting Android 8 (the Samsung S7’s highest available version), as an S7 owner I have found two issues with that support that impact two functions. The first problem is the watch’s Samsung Voice Recorder can only export recordings to the phone version of Samsung Voice Recorder, but the phone version no longer supports Android 8 (the S7). So this renders the on-watch half useless as the results are trapped on the watch. There is no other sharing option provided. Samsung seems uninterested in fixing this (the phone side of the program obviously did support Android 8 at one time). The second problem is any attempt to send photos to the watch for use in faces caused the phone side application to crash. No details provided, so no way to even guess what exactly is broken. But it doesn’t work. And that is annoying.

    I love Samsung ❤️

I love Samsung, their products are above and beyond. I never cared to much for watches. I saw someone wearing one and it peaked my interest. I was worried about sizing but 40 mm proved to be perfect 🤌 I already do some tracking on my phone, but I don’t always like carrying my phone around with me and it’s not as accurate. Mostly because I see the benefits of what this can assist me with, I bought it. I’ve never been happier! The apps, SmartThings and Wearable made set up effortless 👌 I’m still getting used to the set up and syncing with my phone, it’s not that hard once you know the basics. My HPB as well as other health concerns, keeping track of my heart rate is important to me. It’s pretty accurate! I love that I’m able to do so much with it. Even the face turns into a mini flashlight 🔦Getting older and what can come with it, I always have my reminders, everything with me. Charging? I have power saving turned on according to my days, so battery life isn’t too bad. My bed frame is magnetic, I plug my charger in, stick the other end to the side of my bed right next to me and set my watch on it. It’s full charge in an hour. I love it! Bought 5 extra bands my daughter picked out, I love colors that pop, going to get another 5 next week! 😍

Watch is great, works fine. The charger, however, is ridiculous. Doesn’t come with a brick and it’s not USB end, it’s the USB-C end so you have to buy a separate brick. The cord is way too short, also.

    Pricey for your money

I have had Samsung watches in the past and was disappointed on the connection of the watch. It was not connecting properly when setting up and at least once a day my watch is disconnected from my phone. The durability of the watch has improved, but battery life has not.

Battery life is shorter than expected

I wish the battery lasted a little longer, I have to charge it every day. I also had to disable a lot of the features to gain more battery time. The app is OK for the setup, I wish I could do setup from the watch and not have to have the phone to do it. There are a lot of featured apps on the watch, but they suck battery power if you enable them all. It was worth the price for me because I fell in my field and was able to use the watch to get help. That’s one of the reasons I was attracted to the watch. I can wear it without having my phone on me. I did buy the LTE version that lets me do this.

It’s great (most of the time)

I’ve been using this watch daily for about 6 months now. For the vast majority of that time, it has been great at what it does. Sleep tracking, heart tracking, body composition measurements, workout tracking, blood oxygen measurements, notifications, and apps have all worked perfectly(or for the body comp and blood oxygen, as good as you can expect a tiny sensor on your wrist to be, accurate enough to track progress and warn you of issues but not in any way perfect).Battery has generally lasted about 40-48 hours(connected to my phone and with no battery saving settings turned on), and it usually charges up in about 45 minutes which is definitely fast enough to just charge while I’m in the shower. However, there have been about 3 times when I’ve had issues with the watch. All of these have been issues with pairing (My phone is a Google Pixel 6). It’s seem to have happened only when I let the battery die fully, but after that when I reconnected to my phone, even though the watch and the phone both showed a connection, they were unable to communicate with each other (no notifications, data transfer or internet connectivity). For all these times, resetting the watch and repairing fixed the issue, and as of the last 3 months everything has been fine. Perhaps a software update fixed it, but even with this minor issue it’s by far the best android smartwatch on the market.

    Worth the investment

I never had need or interest in smart watches. After dropping & repurchasing over 10 budget phones in a 2 yrs, & really wanting a flagship, I decided to try the Galaxy watch. It supports the most functionality for any smart watch I looked at. Paired to S21 ultra it has provided so much to my daily life. The convenience of tapping the watch for most of my apps and the information it provides through Samsung health (only off for showers & charging) are totally worth 200$. I wasn’t sure that I would gain much from the health app but I WAS WRONG! Tracking my activity and sleep patterns (so much more) over the last 4 weeks has helped tremendously. I have a neurological nervous system impairment that highly impacts my daily life. Poor or little sleep and stress are the biggest impacts and this watch has helped me make major improvements to both. There’s a crap ton of little tweaks to make it unique to your needs, go through the learning process and make adjustments as you go. Wearing it all the time was my biggest concern. It did take a couple of weeks to fully adjust to wearing it 24/7 but now at 4 weeks I feel naked without it.( I’m hyper sensitive to touch & feel) I didn’t buy screen protector & don’t feel the need. My pic shows a recent cut from doing yard and house work all while wearing my watch, it’s pretty durable. I highly recommend this watch over all! I wouldn’t waste money on inferior watches that won’t hold up or do all this can. With the latest tech & durability this smart watch should last a couple years at least 🥰

The ratings above don’t capture how nice this watch is…

Fantastically comfortable and competent watch…I put away my Fitbit Versa without much ambivalence. Screen is incredible and the watch is sized so I don’t feel like I’m carrying a workout device all the time…barely know it’s there. Lots of features.I have turned off the WiFi connectivity to conserve battery…I was having trouble getting through more than a single day with that on. That said, I rarely use wi-fi on my watch so it’s no hardship – and with the wifi off, I’m getting 2+ days. My Versa was old enough so that wasn’t much of a step down. Also, the apps are significantly more complicated on the Galaxy Watch5 – I assume true for the Samsung smart watch lineup as well. Samsung Health, Wear OS, Samsung Health Monitor (I do have a Samsung phone as well – seems to be required for a lot of features) all do different things…seems like they should be combined into a single health app. In addition, for those of us in the US, at least one advertised capability is not enabled – i.e. the blood pressure monitor.Bit of a mixed bag, but my primary consideration has to do with wearing it, once an acceptable level of battery life is achieved. I recommend it, with those caveats.
